Drawings and jewellery from England's Suffolk coast.
Buzz is actually short for Elizabeth. After a varied career as a graphic designer and art director, with a little teaching too, I now draw and make simple sustainable jewellery from the lovely things I gather at low tide along the Suffolk coast where I live. When I'm not out beach combing or drawing you can find me in my studio and workshop on a farm in Brandeston surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside.
I'm lucky enough to have this short film about my work, made by talented Claire Whittenbury as part of her Human Elements project
For my jewellery I use sea glass, stones, and fragments of shell and ceramic - all tumbled by the sea. I don't polish my finds - they are entirely crafted by the waves, over decades, possibly centuries. I carefully drill the pieces and arrange them with sterling silver or 9k yellow gold on silk, cotton or linen cords.
In case you need something that will never be taken off I also have a lovely soft cotton-nylon mixed cord that has been thoroughly tested by all year round swimmers and travelling students. Small hoop earrings are also good for sleeping in.
My adjustable length system means there are no fiddly manufactured catches to detract from the minimal designs, or to come undone - so they are very safe.
You'll find the name of the beach or region where each piece was found added to the descriptions. I love the hidden history - and like to think I'm recycling the lost city of Dunwich, the old pier at Southwold, or just giving new life to a discarded bottle.
I also have finds from other parts of the UK, and from around the world - all found by myself, family and kind friends.
If something you like has sold please ask as I may be able to create something similar.
Original Drawings inspired by my coastal walks and beach finds are usually available too, in a variety of sizes, framed or unframed. So far I haven't made prints - I only sell originals, so each one is unique.
Commissions I’m open to both drawing and jewellery commissions - for example drawing your own plants or views for specific spaces in your home - or creating jewellery using your own finds from favourite walks or beaches. Examples of both can be found on my Products page. Please email me and we can discuss ideas, or arrange a visit to my studio.
Gift boxes Your jewellery will arrive in a natural recycled card gift box tied with raffia. There is brief information about my work and how to care for your piece on the inside lid, along with this website address. I usually add a tiny brown label with the name of the beach where the piece was found.
Gift Vouchers are also available from £40. Each voucher will have a unique code to be redeemed within a year, and can be used for a purchase or a commission.
Wholesale and Sale or Return If you are interested in stocking my work in your shop or gallery please email me via my contact page.
